Critters You Might Encounter

Living in Montgomery County you are likely to encounter many creatures while spending time in your lawn and garden. For people that are not from this area, picking up a pot on the ground and seeing a scorpion where the pot was can be a bit unsettling. The scorpions are harmless but the sting can be a little painful to say the least. Often times during hot times of the year it is not uncommon to find a snake coiled up under a bush to protect itself from the hot sun. Most snakes found in your garden and yard are harmless but some may be very dangerous and cause major problems if they bite you.

Critters run the gamut around here from skunks, possums, squirrels, mice, rats, armadillos,  foxes, coyotes, raccoons, snakes, lizards, toads, turtles and frogs to fire ants, carpenter ants, crazy ants, scorpions, flying wood roaches, and a multitude of destructive plant insects. Most are not aggressive and if left alone will not do any harm. Some  however will hurt you if approached and put in fear.
